Caveman Dad and Greyhound racing
Saturday night was also my mate Kevins stag night. The first part of it was at the Greyhound racing at Shawfield Stadium in Glasgow.
Its the first time I have been to it and was really interested in seeing what a proper racing dog is like compared to my retired greyhound
Didnt have any idea how to place a bet but after getting a quick lesson from Bwian - i bet on the first few races with no success.
Then I hit a winner and for a £4 bet I won £44.64 back!
Another few bets later - no more wins, but at the end of the night I was still up by £20 so very happy with that.

Did this at 9am and its all ready really hot, shouldnt have wore a black t-shirt though.
Used Google Earth to measure out 200m from my front gate. It is alomost exactly to the end of the street so runs were just a bit over 400m

Busy day
Had interview at college today for a place on the Classroom Assistant course - I got on it. Just need to get my disclosure in and Im sorted. Start the course in August, its part time so Im still going to work.

The Tartan Tournament
Day 1 of our Softball teams first tournament of the year - and we lost 6 out of 6 games. We didn't play that bad, its that we played teams that are usually in the league above us
It was cold and overcast but me Jackie and the kids somehow managed to get a bit of sunburn
Four maybe five games tomorrow depending on how well we play

Three rounds for time of:
Run 800 meters
50 Back Extensions
50 Sit-ups
Did anchored sit ups and good mornings with the Olympic bar. Runs were 860m - from my front door, up to the track, round it then back to the house. Then a quick walk through the house to the Hobo gym for the sit ups and good mornings
Time - 25mins 28secs
Managed all sit ups and good mornings unbroken, so next time need to run faster if i want to get under 25mis

Two rounds, of each couplet, for time of:
750 meter Row
20 Handstand Push-ups
115 pound Thruster, 20 reps
20 L-Pull-ups
(row + hspu twice then thruster + pull up twice)
Time 30mins 24secs
Rows 2min 51secs and 3min 00secs
That was a slog but i really enjoyed it. First time doing hspu for ages so did them down to a foam pad about 3inch thick and did tuck pull up for the L pull ups

I will be making 2 subs - reduced ROM hspu, and the L-pull ups will be tuck pull ups

went to the local sports centre to use the track, but when i got there I found out there was a big athletics meeting on. So came home and used the old track tat is just up the road from me. Its an old greyhound track that has been tarmacked over and is covered in holes, glass, dog shit etc. But it done the trick!

Well...i didnt rest! Headed up to my mates new gym, Maverick Strength and Conditioning and did a team workout with him and Russell.
The workout was taken from the CrossFit Journal video form a few days ago, it went like this -
3 man team, one person working at a time, 7 rounds of 7 burpee, 7 big tire jumps, 7 db hang squat clean. One person complets a round, then next one goes, then last one.
Derek lasted 5 rounds, and me and Russell finished the 7.

So another year another great showing at the UKKA KB Games
I got joint 2nd again...beaten again by Ben Walker from CrossFit Tyneside.
Jools won the ladies events by default - she was the only girl taking part. So to make it a bit more interesting, she did all the events at the ladies weights, then went on to take part in the mens events

Poor performance but my conditioning has gone to pot. Pull ups and squats were ok but as usual it was the push ups that killed me.
ach well, at least I have a new bench mark to beat next time this comes up

Softball
We played well but were a girl short which meant we had an automatic out and this didnt help us. The other team were ok, nothing special. They had a few good hitters but we managed to keep them under control apart form a few silly mistakes

Monday 11th May - CrossFit Redux
I have been thinking of going back to it for a while and after getting my back and shoulder looked at on Sunday. I have been in a funk because of these injuries and need a change.
I have also been missing out a lot of exercise that I really dont like doing - running, HSPU etc so its about time I worked on all of these.

Krypton Factor assault course
Took a road trip to see my mate Karl down in Manchester, and joined him and the guys from CrossFit Manchester in their trip to the Krypton Factor Assault course.
Had a fantastic time there and also at the BBQ afterwards.
Starting back on the the CrossFit mainsite WOD this week and taking a rest from the strength bias workouts, just to give my back and shoulder some time to heal
